Stephen Milburn's blog
Hi Steve! I'm ok thank you. :) How are you?? I know, I couldn't really figure this thing out before.. and gave up on it! Until someone mentioned it to me today and I thought actually I should try my Tumblr again. LOL. What's new? Do you use yours often? x

I’m OK, thanks. I never use Tumblr now, I might come back to it though, I’m getting bored of Facebook and Twitter had a lot of abusive people on there (not to me, but I didn’t like seeing it happen to other people). Hmm, not that much new, Skye is 9 months now, keeping us busy and I’m back in college studying accounting. What have you been up to?

Not sure about Tumblr

I don’t like that there are a lot of nast people who post anonymously. I also don’t like that people who reblog posts amend them slightly, or try to ‘refute’ them, without making it clear that what they’ve posted isn’t the original post.

Sherlock Holmes Quote (Life)

I came across this passage in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger’. It reminded me of the assisted suicide debate:

“Your life is not your own, keep your hands off it.” said Holmes.

“What use is it to anyone?”

“How can you tell? The example of patient suffering is in itself the most precious of all lessons to an impatient world.” [said Holmes]

Listen to me, O coastlands,
and give attention, you peoples from afar.
The LORD called me from the womb,
from the body of my mother he named my name.
He made my mouth like a sharp sword;
in the shadow of his hand he hid me;
he made me a polished arrow;
in his quiver he hid me away.
And he said to me, “You are my servant,
Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
But I said, “I have labored in vain;
I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity;
yet surely my right is with the LORD,
and my recompense with my God.”
And now the LORD says,
he who formed me from the womb to be his servant,
to bring Jacob back to him;
and that Israel might be gathered to him—
for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD,
and my God has become my strength—
he says:
“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
Thus says the LORD,
the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One,
to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation,
the servant of rulers:
“Kings shall see and arise;
princes, and they shall prostrate themselves;
because of the LORD, who is faithful,
the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.
Isaiah 49:1-7 (ESV)
[Saints] Peter and Paul represent two strikingly different approaches to discipleship. Peter had to learn slowly, making many mistakes along the way. Paul, on the other hand, came to the Faith immediately and never backed away from his zeal for Christ after that. We aim to imitate these two great apostles in our own lives. Like Peter, we know we are likely to fail and to get things wrong, yet like Peter we aim to persevere. Like Paul, we must always be on fire for the Lord, and proclaim Him to everyone and in every situation, no matter how difficult it can sometimes be to do so.

No, that is not what atheism is. Tell me, have you ever actually studied the Big Bang or evolution at all? (And reading creationist books and websites doesn't count as studying those theories, by the way.) If not, then why pretend that you know anything at all about either of those theories? Why not try reading On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin, The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins, or A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking?

Hello again,

The Big Bang was formulated by Georges Lamaitre, a Catholic Priest; so I don’t think Aheism can take any credit for that :) Last I heard, the Catholic Church had no issue with the Theory of Evolution. Don’t take that picture too seriously, it isn’t supposed to be an in depth look at Atheism, it’s just an overview of its general beliefs. Thanks for your question.

You know, it's not Christ-like at all to make fun of atheism, nor is it Christ-like to lie about what atheism actually is. So why did you post that image about atheism, then? I mean, are you really so uneducated that you think that's what atheism is? If so, then why not actually educate yourself about it?

Hello,

I wasn’t making fun of atheism. That’s really what atheism is. Thanks for your message.
